It's nearly summer, and around this time of year we start thinking about fruit salads and cocktails! One of our favourite summer ingredients is pineapple. But in our experience, pineapple can be difficult to slice. How do you cut off the spiky edges without also cutting away and wasting the lovely juicy fruit inside? The Pineapple Slicer & Wedger by Tomorrow's Kitchen is a no-fuss tool that will solve this problem for you.
Simply cut off the top of your pineapple and select the correct size of cutter - three are supplied for different sizes of pineapple. Press the tool into the middle of the pineapple, then twist the blade into the fruit just like a corkscrew into a wine bottle. When you've reached the bottom of the pineapple, simply pull until the core is removed, then take off the handle. If you want to make chunks rather than rings, you can use the 'wedger' to cut it into smaller pieces.
A LOT of juice will come out, so we recommend placing the pineapple in a dish or container to make sure as little as possible is wasted.
